Costs and Practicalities
(Prices have probably
gone up from those quoted - please check if you are thinking of
going.)
Flights from the UK to Bangkok
are £400-£500 return (8-9 hours). Then there is a local flight by
Bangkok Airways to Koh Samui. This is £100 return (1 hour). You can
also travel from Bangkok to Samui by land and boat to reduce the
cost.
A taxi from the airport to the resort is a few pounds.
Once at the resort, the seven day colon cleansing
costs around $300 (check for up to
date prices) . As you are eating nothing for seven days, there is
little to spend on food. You may spend $5-6 (£3) a day on
carrot juice, broth, coconut milk and liver flushes. There is a
good and very reasonably priced restaurant at the resort itself, so
you can look forward to making good use of this after
the colon cleansing has
ended.
In 2003 there were two centres of the resort; the "Beach" and the
"Village". Since then, a third colon
cleansing centre has
been added on a separate island on nearby Koh Chang. Both
islands are reachable by plane from Bangkok
airport.

Spa Samui beach - lovely colon cleansing
location |
The Beach
The Beach is right on the beach
and is the original resort. The cheapest "bungalows"
were extremely basic in 2003, and not recommended.
Refurbishment has now taken place, so probably these have now
been improved. The next level up can have air conditioning,
and I would recommend this. These bungalows will also be more
"creature-proof".
The rooms at the Beach resort are a steal - typically
1000-1200 baht (£18, $36) a night including air conditioning. There
has been considerable refurbishment over the past 5 years and air
conditioning and westsern-style bathrooms have been added to many
of the old rooms as well as most of the new rooms.
The view across the bay from
many of these rooms is fantastic.
The Village
The Village resort is about a
mile away and has recently been completed. It is much more modern,
clean and tidy. If the thought of occasional creepy crawlies
worries you, stay at the Village resort for your colon
cleansing.
The prices are higher, but there are fantastic views over the trees
to the bay. Being on hilly ground, there is a certain amount of
difficult walking at the Village. The nicest (most expensive)
bungalows have the highest climbs.
At the time of visiting, the ambience of the Village was not as
relaxing and pleasant as that of the Beach. This may well change
with time.
Some visitors stay near to the Spa Samui resort, and just come in
for the cleansing drinks and colemas. This is quite possible, and
there are numerous "bungalows" for rent very near. If you are on a
very low budget, this might be the option for you.
To Book
To book accommodation for
colon cleansing at the Spa,
contact them through their web site (address at the end of the
article). They require a Visa or Mastercard number to enable them
to reserve the room. No charge is made to the card. When you check
out, there might be a supplement for paying with a credit
card, in which case you might like to take cash with you to
pay for the accommodation and the colon cleansing at the beginning
of your stay.
Car hire is available locally for about £15 ($30) a day. If you
have a few days at the end of the cleanse, you can relax while
looking round the island. For the good of your health, I would
recommend ending your cleanse with a few days of relaxation. This
would make the minimum recommended stay 12-13 days - 7 days for the
fast, 2-3 days getting your digestive system used to eating again,
and 3 days of relaxation before returning home.
Email facilities are available at the resort and other locations
nearby.

know how you get on.
